GENEVA, Ohio--Keene State College freshman Joey Fodor finished 15th in the javelin in his first career appearance at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships, held at the University of Mount Union on Thursday.
Fodor was seeded 16th in the event, and after fouling on his first attempt, had his best throw of the meet at 55.60 meters, followed by a third attempt that landed at 53.33 meters.
The event wrapped up a strong year for the KSC freshman, who earned All-Little East Conference honors at the LEC championship on April 27 with a season best throw of 59.74 meters, and All-New England plaudits by placing seventh at the New England Division III Championships on May 4 with a toss of 54.10 meters. Fodor was one of just three freshmen nationwide who qualified for the NCAA championships in the javelin, and was the top finishing freshman in the event, placing ahead of Gabe Madonna of MIT and Julio LeBron of Rowan University.
Top seeded Jordan Entwistle of UMass Dartmouth won the event with a throw of 64.27 meters.
