PAWTUCKET, R.I. - In the first edition of men's lacrosse weekly awards, seniors Paul Beling and Mathew Howe, along with junior Charles Molloy IV, earned Little East Conference (LEC) weekly honors for their efforts in the Owls' season and home opener on Saturday afternoon.
Beling was named the Offensive Player of the Week after notching four goals and one assist in the 18-11 win over RPI. From Holliston, Mass., Beling tallied the first goal of the game for Keene State and scored two goals in the second quarter, during which the Owls took their first lead of the game. The senior midfielder went on to record an assist in the third quarter, before capping off his scoring with a goal in the fourth stanza.
Howe earned the title of Goalkeeper of the Week after an outstanding showing between the pipes for Keene State. A native of Bedford, N.H., the senior keeper registered 17 stops in all 60 minutes of the first game of his senior campaign.
Molloy garnered Defensive Player of the Week honors, as the junior was a key part of the Owls' defensive line. Molloy, from Guilford, Conn., picked up two ground balls in the victory over the Engineers.
Beling, Howe, Molloy and the Owls will welcome Western New England in a non-conference clash on Tuesday, February 27th at 4:00 p.m. at the Owl Athletic Complex.
