PAWTUCKET, R.I.--Junior Lauren Perkowski and head coach Tom Pickering were recipients of Runner of the Year and Coach of the Year honors, respectively, it was announced today by the league office.
Perkowski (Plantsville, Conn.) was the LEC individual champion and won five different races this year. Her top performance in the LEC championship returned KSC to the top of the conference for the 18th time in 19 years. She joins Jennifer Adams (2007), Rita Marcotte (2008), Paige Mills (2009, 2010, 2011), Samantha Goldsmith (2013, 2014), Kait Wheeler (2015), and Lindsay Szuch as KSC winners of the award.
Pickering receives Coach of the Year honors for the third time in his career, having also done so in 2015 and 2016. As mentioned, his charges won the LEC Championship with three of the top 10 runners at the LEC Championship race.
