Keene State women ranked 30th in national cross country poll

KEENE, N.H. 8/24/11 – Returning four of its top five runners, including All-American Paige Mills (Keene, N.H.), the Keene State College women’s cross country team is ranked 30th in the USTFCCA national preseason poll and sixth in the New England rankings announced on Wednesday.

Last season, the Owls placed sixth at the New England Regional championship, qualifying two runners, Mills and Andrea Walsh (Bolton, Conn.) for the NCAA Division III Championship. Mills, the LEC runner of the year, finished fifth, becoming KSC’s first women’s All-American since 2007, while Walsh placed 78th in the field. Both runners will be seniors on this year’s team.

Other top returning runners for Keene State include junior Maggie Fitter (Branford, Conn.) and senior Sarah Titus (Bolton, Conn.).

The Keene State men’s and women’s cross country teams open their season with an Alumni meet Saturday, Sept. 3 at Owl Athletic Complex.
