Owls split at Johnson & Wales Invitational
PROVIDENCE, R.I. 9/12/09 - The Keene State College women's volleyball team split a pair of matches on day two of the 2009 Johnson & Wales Invitational, falling to Conn. College 3-1 (22-25, 25-16, 25-13, 25-9) and defeating Bridgewater State 3-1 (24-26, 27-25, 25-10, 25-18) on Saturday afternoon. Keene State is now 4-5 on the season.
The Owls went 1-3 on the weekend, falling to Springfield College 3-0 (25-11, 25-18, 25-18) and host Johnson & Wales 3-2 (25-23, 25-11, 19-25, 18-25, 15-6)on Friday night. Springfield College captured the Invitational with a perfect 4-0 mark .
Keene State won the first game against Conn. College before faltering in the final three games in the loss. Bridget O'Bryant (Merrimack, N.H.) paced the Owls with nine kills, while Jordan Pokryfki (Wasilla, Alaska) had 20 set assists and an ace in the loss.
After dropping the opening game against Bridgewater State, the Owls fought back to win the next three games led by O'Bryant's 16 kills and Pokryfki's 35 set assists for their lone victory of the weekend.
O'Bryant was named to the All-Tournament Team for her 47 kill weekend.
The Owls return to the court Wednesday, September 16th, as they will host Wesleyan University
