Fitter, Hoyt, Fisher Earn All-ECAC Honors

TROY, N.Y. 5/18/12 – Junior Maggie Fitter (Branford, Conn.) raced to a first place finish in the 800-meter race at the ECAC Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's  at Ned Harkness Track & Field on Friday. 

Fitter, who is in contention to run the event at the NCAA Division III Championships next weekend at Claremont Mud Scripps College in California, posted a winning time of 2:12.31.

On Thursday night, senior Paige Mills (Keene, N.H.) finished second in the 5,000 with an outdoor PR time of 17:13.89.  Mills is currently ranked 25th nationally in the event and will need three runners not to commit to the race at the nationals for her to get a spot in the 22-runner field. 

In the men's field, senior Kevin Hoyt (Newtown, Conn.) placed third in the 5,000 with an outdoor PR time of 14:42.16.

Sophomore Angus Fisher (Northampton, Mass.) also earned All-ECAC honors with his eighth place finish (44.61-meters) in the discus event. The mark was also a personal record for Fisher.

Ithaca College won the women's championship with 68 points while Bates took home the men's title with 61 points.

The field for the NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships will be announced on Sunday.
