Andrea Walsh, Senior, Women's Track and Field

Andrea Walsh covered a lot of distance on and off the track this past week. On Thursday night, the senior from Bolton, Conn. put herself in strong contention for a trip to the NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships by placing 11th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase event at the prestigious Penn Relay in Philadelphia with a time of 10:46.41.

"Andrea had a great race," said KSC head track coach Peter Thomas. "Her workouts have been very good lately and we knew she was capable of a good race if she had a good night, and she did. That is a time that should get her to NCAAs. I would be absolutely shocked if it didn't."

Returning to the track on Saturday at the Little East Conference championships at Westfield State,  Walsh won the 3,000-meter steeplechase once again with a time of 10:57.65.  She also finished fifth in the 800 race with a time of 2:28.25.

KSC totaled 116 points to finish behind Southern Maine (214) and UMass Dartmouth (124).
