Adams Wins New England Championship in 5K Race
DURHAM, N.H. 5/10/08 - Preparing for the NCAA Division III meet later this month in University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh, senior Jennifer Adams (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) raced to a first place finish in the 5,000-meter race with a automatic NCAA qualifying and personal best time of 16:39.47 at the All-Division New England Track and Field Championships at the University of New Hampshire on Saturday. Adams' time is the fastest in Division III this spring.
Sophomore Frank Radlof (Milford, N.H.) posted an NCAA provisional qualifying mark with his second place performance in the long jump. KSC Coach Peter Thomas feels his mark of 23'-4.50" will be good enough to get him to the nationals.
Freshman Bryan Kolacz (Brentwood, N.H.) improved on his NCAA provisional qualifying mark with his fourth place finish (178'-06") in the hammer.
Freshman Craig MacPherson (Derry, N.H.) was third in the 1,500 (3:53.38) and senior Crystal Blamy (Walpole, N.H.) took fourth in the high jump (5-05.00").
Two Owl freshmen, Eric Macknight (Newtown, Conn.) (11th/31:37.52) and Timothy Pipp (New Ipswich, N.H.) (18th/32:08.04) recorded personal best times in the 10,000-meter race. Freshman Jeff Trethewey (Merrimack, N.H.) was also ninth (15:31.27) in the 5K race.
In team scoring, the KSC men placed 15th in the 37-team field with 19 points. The Owl women were 17th among 31 teams with 15 points. University of Rhode Island won the men's championship while Boston College claimed the women's title.
