Owl Women Shine in Field Events at Springfield Meet

           SPRINGFIELD, MASS. 4/19/08 - Keene State women won three field events at the non-scoring Springfield College Invitational at Blake track on Saturday.

            Senior Crystal Blamy (Walpole, N.H.) won the high jump (1.60m), junior Samantha Hirsh (Holliston, Mass.) won the javelin (41.16m), and freshman Bryanna Brown (Nashua, N.H.) won the shot put (11.81m). Brown also placed eighth in the discus (26.40m).

            In the men's field, freshmen Eric MacKnight (Newton, Conn.) and Timothy Pipp (New Ipswich, N.H.) finished first (15:26.05) and second (15:34.86) respectively in the 5000-meter race.

            Freshman Jeff Tretheway (Merrimack, N.H.) was second in the 3,000-steeplechase (10:02.30).

            Owl freshmen also faired will in field events; Nick White (Westbrook, Conn.) was 10th in his javelin flight (40.10), Bryan Kolacz (Brentwood, N.H.) was second in the hammer (45.92m), and Chris Bell (Higganum, Conn.) was ninth in the javelin (33.13m).
