LEC Announces Weekly Awards
NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. 1/18/2010 - Keene State College grabbed six LEC players of the week awards on Monday, including three of the four Women's Swimming and Diving awards. Sophomore Courtney Cirillo was named to the honor roll in women's basketball.
Women's Swimming and Diving
Swimmer of the Week
Alea Paddock (Newbury, N.H.), Senior, Keene State
College
In Keene State's lone meet of the week, Paddock won three events to
lead the Owls past Eastern Connecticut. The senior from Newbury,
N.H. posted wins in the 400 individual medley (4:49.41), 100
breaststroke (1:10.77), and 200 breaststroke (2:33.84). She was
also a member of the winning 400 freestyle relay (3:52.00).The
hosts captured all 16 events in a 140-116 dual meet victory over
the Warriors at Spaulding Gym Pool on Jan. 16.
Rookie Swimmer of the Week
Kaila Umbarger (Chelmsford, Mass.), Freshman, Keene State
College
In the Owls dual meet win over Eastern Connecticut, Umbarger won
the 50 freestyle (24.86) and the 100 butterfly (1:00.11), while
placing second in the 100 individual medley (1:04.72). She was also
a member of the winning 200 medley relay team (1:53.47).
Rookie Diver of the Week
Jaclyn Rando (Walpole, Mass.), Freshman, Keene State College
Rando swept both events in the diving well on Saturday as
Keene State defeated Eastern Connecticut. She captured the
one-meter (196.30 points) and three-meter (184.55 points) events to
lead the Owls to their fourth dual meet win.

Track Athlete of the Week
Allison Chamberlain (Scarborough, Maine), Junior, Keene State
College
Chamberlain won a pair of races at the Tufts Winter Invitational on
Jan. 16. The native of Scarborough, Maine captured the 1,000 and
3,000-meter events, respectively. She covered the 1,000-meter
course in a time of 3 minutes, 2.40 seconds, while winning the
3,000-meter event in 10 minutes, 23.17 seconds.
Rookie Track Athlete of the
Week
Maggie Fitter (Branford, Conn.), Freshman, Keene State
College
At the Tufts Invitaional, Fitter earned a pair of top-three
finishes. The Branford, Conn. product placed second in the mile
(5:29.32) and third in the 800 (2:31.67).
Men's Indoor Track and Field
Field Athlete of the Week
Bryan Kolacz (Brentwood, N.H.), Junior, Keene State
College
Kolacz matched his NCAA Division III Championship qualifying mark
in the 35-pound weight throw event at the Tufts Winter Invitational
in Medford, Mass. on Saturday. The product of Brentwood, N.H. won
the weight throw with a national qualifying mark of 60'-02". Kolacz
also placed second in the in the shotput (45'-10").
Women's Basketball
Honor Roll
Courtney Cirillo (Windsor Locks, Conn.), Sophomore, Keene
State College
Cirillo averaged 16.6 points and 6.6 rebounds in the Owls 2-1 week.
The sophomore from Windsor Locks, Conn., came off the bench to
score a career-high 23 points in KSC's 60-55 loss to Western
Conn. on Tuesday. She was 7-9 from the field, and also hit nine of
her ten attempts from the line. Cirillo also contributed
15 points and six rebounds in a 64-59 non-conference win over
Worcester State and 12 points and eight rebounds in Saturday's
54-49 victory over UMass-Dartmouth.
