N.E. Swim: Pryor Wins 500 Free Championship
'SPRINGFIELD, MASS. 2/17/06 - Keene State College junior Kaitlin Pryor (Jafrey, N.H.) captured the 500-yard freestyle individual title at the New England Division II-III Swimming Championships at Western New England College on Friday night. Pryor's time of 5:16.99 broke the KSC record set by Megan Humphreys (5:19.14) in 2004.
Caitlin Coulombe (Lincoln, R.I.) and Kelly Yankowski (Turners Falls, Mass.) also earned All-New England honors. Coulombe finished sixth in the 100 butterfly (1:03.24) and Yankowski placed sixth in the 50 freestyle (25.99).
Keene State was fourth after the first day of competition with 160 points. Bentley College led the way with 391.5 points.
Charlie Garrigan (Camden, Me.) finished third in the 500 freestyle (4:59.72) to lead the Owl men's team. Scott Seligman (Clifton Park, N.Y.) also earned All-New England honors with his fourth place finish in the 50 breastroke race (28.18).
The KSC 400 medley relay team of Dan Ormrod (Branford, Con.), Adam Van Brandenburg (Tenafly, N.J.), Seligman, and Garrigan also claimed All-New England recognition with a third place finish (3:44.79).
After the first day, the KSC men were in sixth place with 93.5 points. Bentley topped the men's field with 198 points.
