Owl Swim Teams Fall to Bentley College
'WALTHAM, MASS. 1/28/05 - Keene State College men's and women's swim teams lost to Bentley College in dual meets held Saturday in Waltham, Mass.
The KSC men (3-4) fell 132-99, while the Owl women (5-4) lost 139-97.
Kyle Uricchio (Enfield, Conn.) and Charlie Garrigan (Camden, Me.) turned in top performances for the Owls. Uricchio took first in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:26.17) and while Garrigan won the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 49.91. Uricchio also had a pair of second place finishes in the 200-yard butterfly (2:11.64) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:08.22), while teammates Adam VanBrandenburg (Tenafly, N.J.) and Scott Seligman (Clifton Park, N.Y.) finished second in the 200-yard freestyle (1:53.10) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:20.70), respectively. John West (West Hartford, Conn.) placed second in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:30.23).
In diving events, Zach Hastings (Weston, Mass.) placed second in the 1-(236.95 points) and 3-meter (242.65 points) events.
Kelly Widman (Middlebury, Conn.) and Katy Pryor (Jaffrey, N.H.) led the Owl women with first place finishes in the 50-(26:50) and 200-yard (2:19:09) freestyle events, respectively. Pryor and Widman teamed up with Katie Allenson (Clifton Park, N.Y.) and Kelly Yankowski (Turners Falls, Mass.) to win the 400-yard freestyle relay in a time of 3:53.83. Yankowski finished second in the 100-yard freestyle and Caitlin Coulombe (Lincoln, R.I.) had two second place finishes in the 200-yard freestyle (2:08.86) and 200-yard butterfly (2:30.77) to round out top finishers for KSC.
The KSC men's and women's swim and dive teams will host Gordon College next Saturday (1 p.m.).
