Owls Fall to Jumbos 2-0

MEDFORD, Mass. 9/14/11 – Continuing their five game road trip to start the season, the Keene State College women's soccer team fell on the road to Tufts University 2-0 on Wednesday afternoon at Kraft Field.

With the loss the Owls drop to 2-3 on the season, while the Jumbos earn their first victory of the season, improving their mark to 1-0-1.

Keene State's defensive play of the game happened when Tufts looked to take a 3-0 lead in the game's final minute on a corner when Owls senior defender Melissa Dempsey (E. Weymouth, Mass.) hugged the post and blocked a shot heading toward the back of the net to keep the game 2-0.

KSC was outshot 19-3 on the game and the Jumbo's held a 5-0 advantage in corners.

Keene State senior netminder Megan Dempsey (E. Weymouth, Mass.) finished the game with 8 saves in the losing effort.

The Keene State College women's soccer team will be playing their first home game of the season on Saturday, as they will open up conference play against rival UMass Boston at 1 p.m. at Owl Athletic Complex.
