Bradford, Mahoney and Bridget Hennessey Earn NEWISA Honors

KEENE, N.H. 12/14/10 - The New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) honored three Owls Tuesday morning. Senior's Katie Bradford (Lebanon, N.H.) and Nora Mahoney (Belchertown, Mass.) and junior Bridget Hennessey (Essex Junction, VT) each were honored by the regions coaches.

Bradford, who was named to the 1st team, earns NEWISA honors for the first time in her career and was the leading vote-getter amongst forwards. Also being named to the All-LEC first-team for the third consecutive year,  Bradford had a super senior season for the Owls (17-6-2).  A three-time LEC player of the week, Bradford topped the conference in assists (16) and points (54) and is tied for first in goals (19). Also an accomplished student, Bradford was named to the ESPN Academic All-District® women's soccer team. The first Keene State player to earn LEC offensive player of the year honors since Erin Lester won the award in 2002, Bradford put her name in the Owl record book this season, becoming the school’s all-time career leader in goals (67) and points (164).

Mahoney, who earned NEWISA 2nd team honors, joined Bradford on the All-LEC first-team this season. The senior, who wreaked havoc from the midfield position, finished the season with five goals and seven assists for 17 points. Mahoney was also named the ECAC Northeast Tournament Most Outstanding Player as the Owls defended their title.

Hennessey was given NEWISA 3rd team honors as voted by the coaches. The anchor of KSC’s defense from her sweeper position, Hennessey also contributed offensively with a goal and four assists. Her goal, a long drive from 40-yards out, came in a 5-1 win over Worcester State. In her junior campaign, she earned All-LEC second-team honors.
