Five Student-Athletes Earn LEC Player of the Week Honors

N. Dartmouth, Mass. 9/20/10 – Five student-athletes were given Little East Conference player of the week honors, as announced Monday by the conference office.

Field Hockey

Offensive Player of the Week
Elizabeth Coffin (Sugar Hill, N.H.), Junior, Forward, Keene State College
Coffin led Keene State to a 1-1 record on the week by scoring three goals for six points. The Sugar Hill, N.H. product matched her season-high point total with a pair of markers, including the game-winner, in a Little East victory over Framingham State.  Earlier in the week, she scored the Owls’ lone goal in a loss against Williams. Coffin has registered at least one marker in her past five games.

Women’s Soccer

Offensive Player of the Week
Katie Bradford (Lebanon, N.H.), Senior, Forward, Keene State College
Bradford tallied three goals and two assists for eight points to lead Keene State to a 2-0-1 mark on the week. On Sept. 14, the Lebanon, N.H. product scored the tying marker late in the second half during the double overtime draw with Tufts. Two days later, she penned a season-high five points—on two goals and an assist—in her ledger against Smith. Her first goal in the 25th minute was the eventual game-winner. Bradford set up the game-winning goal in the Little East opening victory over Plymouth State on Sept. 18. 

Goalkeeper of the Week
Megan Dempsey (East Weymouth, Mass.), Junior, Keene State College
Dempsey posted a 0.35 goals against average and an .875 save percentage to lead Keene State to a 2-0-1 mark on the week. The product of East Weymouth, Mass. recorded a pair of shutouts against Smith College and Plymouth State.  She made six saves in a 1-1 double overtime tie against Tufts.

Men's Cross Country

Runner of the Week
Eric MacKnight (Newtown, Conn.), Senior, Keene State College
MacKnight captured the individual title at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational this past weekend. The senior from Newton, Conn. posted a winning time of 24 minutes and 40 seconds to earn his first college championship. MacKnight’s strong individual effort helped Keene State win the team competition, placing first in a field of 36 teams.

Women's Cross Country

Runner of the Week
Paige Mills (Keene, N.H.), Junior, Keene State College
Mills won the UMass Dartmouth Invitational this past weekend, crossing the finish line in a time of 17 minutes, 34 seconds. The junior’s victory helped Keene State finished third in the team scoring with 93 points.
