Women's Soccer Sweeps LEC Weekly Awards

The Keene State College women's soccer team was honored by the Little East Conference on Tuesday, by taking all four of the LEC Weekly Awards.

Offensive Player of the Week
Katie Bradford (Lebanon, N.H.), Junior, Forward, Keene State College
Bradford paced the Keene State attack this past week with six points as the Owls posted a 1-0-1 mark. On Oct. 17, the striker from Lebanon, N.H. recorded a season-best five points, on two goals and an assist, to lead Keene State past UMass Boston, 4-0. Earlier in the week, she handed out the game-tying helper in a 1-1 double overtime draw against No. 22 Middlebury College.

Defensive Player of the Week
Bridget Hennessey (Essex Junction, Vt.), Sophomore, Back, Keene State College
Hennessey led the Keene State defensive attack to a 1-0-1 record this past week. The Essex Junction, Vt. native helped the Owls hold No. 22 Middlebury to just five shots on net and 1.25 goals below its season average in the 1-1 double overtime draw. Keene State limited UMass Boston to just four shots on net in a 4-0 conference victory on Oct. 17.  

Goalkeeper of the Week
Megan Dempsey (East Weymouth, Mass.), Sophomore, Keene State College
Dempsey posted a 0.46 goals against average and a .875 save percentage in a 1-0-1 week for Keene State. The East Weymouth, Mass. product allowed her lone goal of the week in a 1-1 double overtime draw with No. 22 Middlebury. The Owls are just the third team to hold the Panthers to a single marker. Dempsey made three saves against UMass Boston before giving way to her backup in Keene State's 4-0 conference victory.


Rookie of the Week
Joan Hamel (Weare, N.H.), Freshman, Forward, Keene State College
Hamel scored her first two collegiate goals this week for the Owls. She netted the tying goal in Keene State's 1-1 tie against #22 Middlebury, while also notched a marker in the Owls' 4-0 win over UMass-Boston.

The Owls return to action Wednesday night with a non-conference game against No.1 ranked Williams College at 7 p.m.
