Parrott Joins KSC Women's Soccer Coaching Staff

KEENE, N.H. 7/14/08 - After serving as the head varsity girls soccer coach at Fall Mountain Regional High School in Langdon the past eight years, Justin Parrott has a new job.

Parrott will join the women's soccer coaching staff at Keene State College this fall.  "It was a very difficult decision. "I wanted to come back to Fall Mountain, but with the direction the administration was heading, I thought it would be a good time to look into other opportunities," said Parrott. "I'm excited to start a new chapter in my coaching career at Keene State."

"I'm really looking forward to having Justin on my staff," said KSC Head Coach Denise Lyons.  "He's a technically strong coach who always has a reputation for having a great repoire with his players."

Parrott, who compiled a 92-42-12 record coaching the Wildcats, said his decision to leave was based on the administration not renewing the contract of FMRHS athletic director Stan Jurkoic.

"I thought Stan Jurkoic was the best athletic director in the state, said Parrott.  "He was great with the kids and great with the coaches.  "When he wasn't fairly renewed, I felt it was time to move on."

Parrott is following the same path he took as a player.  A four-year standout at Fall Mountain, he was the first Wildcat to score 20 goals in a season and at one time held the record (49) for career goals.  Earning All-State honors as a senior he led FMRHS to the State (Class M) finals. Parrott went on to play two seasons (1994-95) at Keene State, scoring the game-winning goal in his first game.

Returning to coach the girls' team at Fall Mountain, Parrott led the Wildcats to several trips to the Class I tournament, including 2006 when the team advanced to the semifinal round.  Parrot also had the opportunity to coach future Owls Sarah Miller and Molly Brunelle and recent grad Kristy Zurmuhlen, who earned a scholarship to play at Stanford.

Named Class I coach of the year in 2002 and 2004, Parrott said the toughest thing about leaving was saying good-bye to his players.  "I was spoiled at Fall Mountain with great kids I got to coach," he said.

Parrott is now looking forward to working with college level players.  "At the high school level you're lucky if you get a handful of very talented players in a year," he said.  "I'm expecting to see a team full of top-notch players at Keene State."

Parrott will also have recruiting responsibilities with the Owls.  "I already have a lot of connections, so I'm hoping I can bring in some local kids," he said.

Currently living in North Charlestown with his wife Rachel and daughters Isabelle and Mya, Justin is the director of the Walpole Village School.
