Little East Announces Fall Honors

'LITTLE EAST CONFERENCE WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL ALL-STARS

YANKOWSKI AND O'BRYANT NAMED TO All-LEC TEAM

KEENE, N.H. 11/7/06 - Keene State College's Kelly Yankowski (Turners Falls, Mass.) and Brittany O'Bryant  (Merrimack, N.H.) have been named to the All-Little East Conference women's volleyball team announced on Tuesday.   

Yankowski, a two-time All-LEC selection, was named to the first-team as a right side hitter.  An all-around player, the junior is second on the team in kills (339) and assists (645).

A sophomore middle hitter, O'Bryant earned second-team honors.  She leads the Owls in a kills (497) and blocks (99).

KSC, which set a program record for wins (24-13), hosts Rivier College in a first-round ECAC tournament game on Wednesday (7 p.m.).  

LITTLE EAST CONFERENCE MEN'S SOCCER ALL-STARS

HORNE AND SCOTT NAMED TO FIRST TEAM

KEENE, N.H. 11/7/06 - Keene State College's Eric Scott (West Springfield, Mass.) and Alex Horne (Harvard, Mass., and Brendon Flynn (Dunbarton, N.H.)have been named to the All-Little East Conference men's soccer team announced on Tuesday.  Both Scott and Horne were first team selections while Flynn was a second-team pick.

Currently completing his senior season with the Owls, Scott is making his third appearance on the All-LEC first-team.  The fourth-year midfielder is second on the team in scoring with eight goals, five assists, and 21 points.

Horne, a two-time All-LEC selection, tops the Owls in scoring with 14 goals, two assists and 30 points.  Horne netted all three goals in KSC's 3-0 win over Plymouth State in the LEC tournament championship game.

A standout defender who helped anchor the Owls' backfield, Flynn also contributed offensively with two goals.

BRUNELLE NAMED ROOKIE OF THE YEAR

KEENE, N.H. 11/7/06 - Keene State College freshman midfielder Molly Brunelle (Walpole, N.H.) was named Little East Conference women's soccer rookie of the year and a second-team All-LEC player. Senior midfielder Tara Wagner (Avon, Conn.) and junior back Jessica Pepin (Bow, N.H.) were also selected to the All-LEC first team announced on Tuesday.

Brunelle is having a fantastic first season with the Owls.  She is currently tied for second on the team in scoring with eight goals, three assists, and 19 points.  

Wagner, a three-time All-LEC selection, leads Keene State in scoring with nine goals, six assists, and 24 points. Earlier in the season, she broke the KSC record for assists (32) in a career.

Pepin is making their first appearance on the All-LEC team.  In addition to her standout defensive play as the team's sweeper, Pepin also contributed offensively with two goals. 

LITTLE EAST CONFERENCE FIELD HOCKEY ALL-STARS

JOYCE NAMED DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

KEENE, N.H. 11/7/06 - Senior goalie Sara Joyce (Hampstead, N.H.) was named Little East Conference field hockey defensive player of the year. Joyce was joined by senior midfielder Amanda Rosenbeck (Wilder, Vt.), senior forward Steph Georgevits (Concord, N.H.), and sophomore back Alyssa Rowell (Queensbury, N.Y.) on the All-LEC first team announced on Tuesday.

Joyce anchors an Owls defense that ranks fifth in the nation in shutout percentage, posting 12 scoreless matches. A two-time All-Little East Conference pick, she is making her second consecutive appearance on the first-team. A starter in all 22 games, Joyce leads the nation in save percentage (.916), and is fifth in goals against average (0.78). The three-time Little East Defensive Player of the Week reached double digits in saves eight times this season, including a season-high 25 at Springfield.

Rosenbeck a two-time All-LEC first-team selection, leads Keene State in scoring with 13 goals, 14 assists, and 40 points. She had a season high six points in a win over Plymouth State earlier in the season.

Georgevits and Rowell are making their first appearance on the All-LEC team.  Georgevits tallied 11 goals, six assists, and 28 points.  In addition to her standout defensive play, Rowell also contributed offensively with four goals, four assists for 12 points.
