NEW LONDON, N.H.--The Keene State College women's lacrosse team scored the first seven goals of the game en route to a 16-6 non-conference win over Colby-Sawyer College on Thursday night. Keene State improves to 3-2, while the Chargers drop to 2-3.
Trombetta got the Owls on the board 45 seconds into the contest, off a pass from Kaitlin Nolan, and Chadnick doubled the lead with a feed from Jenna Bellano at the 27:32 mark. Witherbee had a hand in each of the next three goals, scoring the first and thirdand setting up Bellano inbetween.
Chrisa Demovellan netted an unassisted tally with exactly 20:00 on the clock, and Ashley Borjeson got in on the action for a 7-0 KSC lead. The Chargers would score twice to make it 7-2 at halftime, and opened the second half with a goal by Caitlyn Whearty, but KSC left no doubt after that.
The Owls rang off the next five goals, two from Witherbee and one each from Bellano and Chadwick to take a 12-3 lead, and KSC went up 15-5 on Moran's first goal of the day with 10:03 to play.
Libby Curran made her first start of the season and stopped four shots. Kellie Lander made 14 saves for Colby-Sawyer.
Keene State begins Little East Conference play with a visit from the University of Southern Maine on Saturday, March 29 at 1 p.m. Colby-Sawyer hosts Husson University on the same day at noon.
