Women's Lacrosse Names Benson Team Captain

KEENE, N.H.  1/30/12 – Preparing for their teams' first practice of the season on Monday, Keene State lacrosse coaches announced their captains for the upcoming 2012 season.

Owl women's coach Katie Arsenault has designated senior Sammi Benson as one of her captains, but indicated that the team will vote on additional captains in a few weeks.

A vocal leader on the Keene State women's lacrosse team, Benson, a speedy senior from Hampstead, N.H., came off the bench to tally 10 goals, six assists and 16 points.  She had a career high four goals against New England College.  Benson's twin sister Jackie served as captain of the KSC field hockey team last fall.

The Keene State women went 16-6 last year, winning the LEC title and earning a berth in the NCAA tournament.

The Owl women begin their 2012 campaign March 8 at St. Michaels.
