Sawyer and Albert Earn 1st Team All-LEC Honors
N. DARTMOUTH, Mass. (5/11/10) – Juniors Lauren Sawyer (Westbrook, Maine) and Jamie Albert (Southington, Conn.) earned 1st-Team All-Little East Conference as voted by the coaches on Tuesday afternoon.
Sawyer, who has shattered the KSC all-time assists record, finished the regular season with 57 assists and 20 goals for a team-high 77 points. She also broke her own record for assists in a game with nine back on April 29th, in a 21-4 win over Colby Sawyer.
Albert leads the team in goals (52) and draw controls (67) and is second on the team in points (72). Albert’s best game was the LEC opener against Eastern Conn. State when she had seven goals and to assists and had 14 draw controls in the 20-14 win.
Also earning All-LEC honors were juniors Jill Kirk (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) and Emily Persano (Somers, Conn.) with their second-team honors.
Kirk finished the season third on the team in most offensive categories with 38 goals and 22 assists for 60 points. Kirk also played well against Colby Sawyer, scoring eight points on five goals and three assists in the victory.
Persano earned All-LEC 2nd Team honors. The quick midfielder scored 11 goals and had 9 assists for the Owls. She also scooped up 36 ground balls and had 22 draw controls for KSC this season.
The Owls will play in the ECAC Northeast Tournament against in-state rival Plymouth State on Saturday at 1 p.m.
