Degou named MVP of the Grand Canyon Classic
PHOENIX, Arizona (Trip Sports.com) - Trip Sports has announced the All-Tournament Team for its 2009 Grand Canyon Classic. The event was a weeklong event featuring 20 teams from all across the United States, including men's and women's teams. Eleven mens players and five womens players were selected.
NOTE: The Grand Canyon Classic also consisted of teams from Basketball Traveler's Cactus Jam, making the event a "co-sponsored" event.
Kristin Degou (Keene State College) was announced the female Most Outstanding Player after averaging over 20 points and 9 rebounds while Curt Hanson (University of Wisconsin - Platteville) was the male Most Outstanding Player. Hanson averaged 29 points and 8 rebounds in his two contests. Degou scored 20 points, including her 1,000-career point in the Owls opening round win against Goucher (Md.) College.
Keene State (6-3) opened the tournament with a 68-44 win over Goucher (Md.) College before falling to Wisconsin-Oshkosh 57-54 (OT) in the championship game.
