KEENE STATE JOINS WBCAS FIGHT AGAINST BREAST CANCER
KEENE, N.H. 2/6/09 - Keene State College has joined over 1,250 institutions and organizations that will participate in the 2009 Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) fight against breast cancer during Pink Zone week, Feb. 13-22.
Fans wearing pink to either the Keene State women' or men's basketball games, 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. respectively, against Little East rival UMass-Boston on Saturday, Feb., 21 at Spaulding Gym, will be given free admission.
In addition, both Owl and Beacon players will wear pink shooting shirts, and the KSC Student Athletic Activities Committee (SAAC) will hold a 50/50 raffle with proceeds going toward the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund.
The WBCA Pink Zone initiative is a global, unified effort for the WBCA's nation of coaches to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond.
In addition to the game, a 3-point shoot out at halftime will take palce with the winner recieving a pair of Red Sox tickets for the upcoming season, courtesy of the Rail Road Tavern. Four contestants will have 30 seconds to make as many 3-pointers as possible with the winner taking home the tickets. Prizes will be awarded to all particiapants.
