PAWTUCKET, R.I. – The Little East Conference (LEC) will honor 11 individuals as part of its 2018 Hall of Fame induction ceremony, which will take place October 14, 2018 at the Italian Heritage Center in Portland, Maine. The reception will begin at 2 p.m., followed by the dinner and induction ceremony at 3 p.m.
Included in this year's class is former KSC softball and women's soccer standout and current Owls' head softball coach, Carrah Fisk Hennessey '99.
Fisk Hennessey starred on the soccer pitch and softball diamond for Keene State as it transitioned to NCAA Division III and Little East Conference membership for the 1997-98 academic year. The 1999 LEC Softball Player of the Year was an all-conference and National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region selection in each of her two LEC seasons; for her career, Fisk Hennessey was a four-time all-conference and three-time NFCA All-Region pick.
She led the Owls to the 1999 LEC regular season and tournament titles on their way to a berth in the NCAA Northeast Region Championship Final and a then program-record 33 wins. Fisk Hennessey led Division III with a program-record 16 homeruns as a senior, a record that still stands to this day. She additionally holds the single-season (.916) and career (.633) slugging percentage records and total bases in a season (120), and remains in the top-10 for most single-season and career offensive categories. Fisk Hennessey would also develop into an All-LEC goalkeeper for the women's soccer program.
She was named a Second-Team All-LEC performer as a senior, winning a then-program-record 16 games while leading the Owls to a LEC title and berth in the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. Fisk Hennessey just completed her fourth season as head softball coach at her alma mater after coaching soccer and softball and serving as assistant athletic director at New England College.
Fisk Hennessey is the seventh person to go into the LEC Hall of Fame representing Keene State College; prior inductees include former men's soccer coach Dr. Ron Butcher, as well as Chris Coates '04 (men's basketball), Meghan McLoughlin '05 (softball), Erin Dallas '10, (field hockey), Mary Proulx '01 (cross country/track and field), and Mark Miller '01 (cross country/track and field).
