Three Owls recognized by ECAC
KEENE, N.H. 4/27/10 – Three Keene State student athletes were recognized by the ECAC with player of the week honors on Tuesday.
Senior Stephanie Lavado (Wallingford, Conn.) was named co-softball player of the week, sophomore Griffin Meehan (Simsbury, Conn.) was selected men’s lacrosse offensive player of the week, and junior Jill Kirk (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) was named women’s lacrosse co-offensive player of the week.

Stephanie Lavado – Keene State
Senior, Catcher, Wallingford, Conn.
Lavado powered Keene State College to a 7-2-1 mark this past week, batting .581 (18-for-31) with eight runs scored, four home runs, three doubles, and 13 RBI. The senior from Wallingford, Conn. registered seven extra-base hits to post a 1.129 slugging percentage and .606 on-base percentage. She collected at least one hit in eight games, including seven with multiple base knocks. Lavado was white-hot from the plate during a doubleheader with Fitchburg State, batting 5-for-6 (.833) with three homers and eight RBI.

Offensive Player of the Week
Griffin Meehan – Keene State College
Sophomore, Attack, Simsbury, Conn.
Meehan powered Keene State College to a pair of Little East Conference victories this past week, scoring 12 goals and handing out five assists for 17 points. The Simsbury, Conn. product used a balanced scoring attack against UMass Boston to post a new single-game career-high in points (10). Meehan capped the week with seven markers against Western Connecticut.

Co-Offensive Players of the Week
Jill Kirk – Keene State College
Junior, Attack, Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.
Kirk paced the Keene State attack this past week with 20 points, on
nine goals and 11 assists, in victories over Colby-Sawyer,
Castleton State, and UMass Dartmouth. She recorded at least five
points in each contest, including an eight-marker outburst against
the Chargers. Kirk also tallied seven points against the Corsairs
with three goals and four helpers
