Patnode and Allenson named to All-Region softball team

KEENE, N.H.  5/10/09 - The Keene State softball team placed two players on the 2009 National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Region team announced on Sunday.

Seniors Jenna Patnode (Surry, N.H.) and Katie Allenson (Clifton Park, N.Y.) were named to the first and third teams respectively at the at-large position.

Splitting time between third and centerfield, Patnode batted a team high .423 with four home runs and 36 RBIs.  She also led the Owls with 47 runs and was successful in 47 of her 49 stolen base attempts.  Named the Little East player of the Year, Patnode completes her career as the all-time record holder for hits (206), runs (165), and tied the stolen base mark (99).

A productive bat in the middle of the Owls' batting order, Allenson batted .374 with a team high six home runs to go with 33 RBIs.  Allenson, who saw playing time at third and behind the plate, wraps up her career tied for fourth in home runs (19) and fourth in RBIs (108) on KSC's all-time lists. Her career batting average of .395 is a KSC record

Keene State (30-14) completed its season on Sunday by capturing the ECAC New England Division III tournament with an 11-1 five-inning victory over Brandeis University.
