Hirsh and Chandler earn LEC weekly honors

Keene, N.H. 4/27/09 - Samantha Hirsh was named women's field athlete of the week and freshman Haley Chandler was selected softball rookie of the week by the Little East Conference on Monday.

Women's Field Athlete of the Week                                                                           Samantha Hirsh (Holliston, Mass.), Senior, Keene State College
Hirsh earned a return trip to the NCAA Championship after winning the javelin event at the Little East Alliance Outdoor Track and Field Championships with a school record and automatic NCAA qualifying throw of 147'-10". Hirsh earned All-America in the event last year with her fourth place performance.

Softball Rookie of the Week
Haley Chandler (Wakefield, Mass.), Freshman, First Base, Keene State College
Chander batted .500 (12-for-24) in the Owls' 7-1 week.  She recorded two doubles, two home runs, drove in 11 runs, and scored 10 times. She went six-for-seven in a doubleheader sweep over Fitchburg State with a double, two home runs, and five RBI.
