Allenson and Patnode named to All-New England Softball Team


Katie Allenson has excelled as a two-sport athlete at Keene State

            KEENE, N.H. 5/20/08 -  Keene State College's Katie Allenson (Clifton Park, N.Y.) and Jenna Patnode (Surry, N.H.) have been named to the New England Softball Coaches Association (NESCA) All-Star team.

            Allenson, a first-team selection, split her time between third base and designated players positions this season.  The junior led the Owls in hitting (.477), home runs (9), RBIs (42) and slugging pct. (.758).  Her 42 RBI were a KSC season record.

            Picked to the second-team at the utility position, Patnode saw time in centerfield and third base for KSC this spring. A catalyst for the Owls at the lead-off spot in the line-up, the junior set season records for runs (51) and hits (64), a career mark with 21 triples. She also had a team-leading 12 doubles and was second in hitting (.398).

            Finishing its season with a 28-14 record, Keene State advanced to the championship game of the ECAC Division III New England Tournament.
