Theleen qualifies for U.S. National Triathlon Team
KEENE, N.H., 9/27/10 – Keene State College’s Dan Theleen qualified for the United States National Triathlon team on Saturday. The junior from Southbury, Conn., finished 14th in his age group (20-24) at the USA Triathlon’s Group National championship held in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
“The racing conditions were brutal because of the heat, but I couldn’t be any happier with my performance,” said Theleen, who posted a time of 2:03:17 in the event that consisted of a 1.5-km swim, a 40 km bike and a 10-km run.
Theleen, who has competed for Owl swim, cross country, and track teams was 41st of out of the 1,118 athletes who finished the course. He will now set his sights on the world championship that will take place Sept., 2011 in Beijing.
