Three Owls Earn Player of the Week Honors

North Dartmouth, Mass. 1/30/12- Three Keene State College winter student-athletes earned weekly Little East Conference honors, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.

Track Athlete of the Week
Kevin Hoyt (Newtown, Conn.), Senior, Keene State College
Hoyt led the pack for Keene State in the 5,000 meter race at the Boston University Terrier Invitational this past weekend. The Newtown, Conn. product posted a personal best time of 15 minutes, 1.07 seconds, cutting off nearly 20 seconds from his previous best effort. Hoyt qualified for the New England Open and ECAC Championships in the 5,000 meter run.

Rookie Field Athlete of the Week
Ben Keach (Newfield, N.H.), Freshman, Keene State College
Keach paced the Owl throwers at the Southern Maine Invitational by improving his 16-pound shot put by over two-feet en route to qualifying for New England Division III Championships. The Newfields, N.H. product finished third with a toss of 45'-10''. Keach also took home fifth place in the weight throw with a throw of 38'-7.75''.

Rookie Swimmer of the Week
Diana Pimer (West Haven, Conn.), Freshman, Keene State College
Pimer captured two events in a dual meet against nationally-ranked Connecticut College on Saturday. The freshman from West Haven, Conn. was the first to touch the wall in the 200 breaststroke (2:27.17) and the 200 individual medley (2:13.21), while also placing second in the 200 butterfly (2:13.42). Pimer helped Keene State to a second-place finish in the 200 medley relay.
