Najem Wins two races at Jim Sheehan Memorial Track Meet

 

FITCHBURG, MASS. 4/4/09 - Keene State senior Peter Najem (Derry, N.H.) raced to a pair of first place finishes at the Jim Sheehan Memorial Track Meet at Fitchburg State College on Saturday. 

Najem, who earned indoor track All-America honors, won the 800 (1:58.00) and the 1,500-meter (4:07.79) races.  Sophomore Corey Loonan (Sandwich, Mass.) placed third in the 1,500 with a time of 4:09.36.

Sophomore Bryan Kolacz (Brentwood, N.H.) had another fine day in field events, winning the hammer (166'-10") and the discus (44.78-meters) events.

KSC men had 52 points to finish sixth.  Southern Maine took home the team championship with 147.50 points.

Sophomore Allison Chamberlain (Scarborough, Me.) won the 800 (2:26.52) and placed third in the 1,500 (5:02.07) to lead the KSC women.

Senior Samantha Hirsh (Holliston, Mass.) also won the javelin with a throw of 121'-02").

KSC was fourth in the team scoring with 64 points.  Colby won the women's team title with 211 points.
