Kolacz wins hammer event at ECAC Championships

SPRINGFIELD, MASS. 5/16/09 - Sophomore Bryan Kolacz (Brentwood, N.H.) tuned up for next weekend's national meet with a first place finish in the hammer throw event at the ECAC Division III Championships at Springfield College on Saturday.

Kolacz, who posted the top mark in Division III (197'-5.00") last weekend, had a wining throw of 189'-05" on Saturday.

Also looking for an NCAA berth, senior Peter Najem (Derry, N.H.) placed seventh in the 80-meter race with a time of 1:53.64.  Sophomore Corey Loonan (Sandwich, Mass.) had a seventh place finish (9:36.09) in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

Sophomore Allison Chamberlain (Scarborough, Me.) scored the only points for the KSC women with her third place performance (2:14.84) in the 800-meter race.

Moravian (Pa.) College won both ECAC men's and women's team titles.

The NCAA Championships begin Thursday at Marietta College in Ohio.
