Records Fall At UMass-Lowell Meet

LOWELL, MASS.4/12/08 It was a very productive day for Keene State at the George Davis Invitational at UMass-Lowell on Saturday.  The Owls won three events, set  three schoolrecords, and posted a pair of provisional NCAA championship qualifying marks.

Samantha Hirsh (Holliston, Mass.) posted an NCAA provisional qualifying mark and set a KSC record with her first place finish in the javelin (132'-09").  The junior qualified for the NCAA meet two years ago.

The other NCAA provisional qualifying mark came in the men's hammer where Bryan Kolacz (Brentwood, N.H.) placed second with a school record throw of 171'-07".  The freshman, who was named the LEC rookie field athlete of the year, had a big day. He won the discus (137'-11) and placing seventh in the shot-put (40'-04.75").

Sophomore Frank Radlof (Milford, N.H.) took fourth in the javelin (169'-07") and freshman Nick White (Westbrook, Conn.) was fourth in the discus (126'-08"). Freshman Sarjit Singh (West Lebanon, N.H.) was third in the triple jump (42'-02.75").

On the track, freshman Craig MacPherson, who was recently named LEC rookie indoor runner of the year, placed fifth in the two mile race (9:17.39) and sixth in the 800 (1:57.79).

In the women's field, Jennifer Adams (Saratoga Spring, N.Y.) won the 3,000 race with a time of 10:09.05.

The KSC 4x100 relay team of Laura Kintz (Jaffrey, N.H.), Kaley Griffin (Manchester, N.H.), Kimber Stannard (Higganum, Conn.), and Shaylin Deignan (Londonderry, N.H.) set a school record (50.67) with their second place performance.

Griffin also placed fourth in the 100-meter hurdles (16.43).

In field events, freshman Bryanna Brown (Nashua, N.H.) was third in the shot-put (38'-11/50') and Gretchen Galvin (Seekonk, Mass.) placed fifth in the hammer (114'-09").
