Three Owls Honored by Little East

KEENE, N.H. 1/21/08 - Three Keene State athletes received Little East Conference honors on Monday.  Crystal Blamy (Walpole, N.H.) and Chelsea Peruccio (Glastonbury, Conn.) were named women's field athlete and diver of the week respectively, and Tyler Kathan (Ludlow, Vt.), was selected to the men's basketball honor roll.

Blamy, a senior, posted an automatic NCAA Division III Championship qualifying and school record with her winning mark of 5.68 feet in the high jump at the Tufts Invitational. She broke her own Keene State College record of 5.58 feet set in 2006. It is the top leap in Division III so far this season.

Peruccio became the first Keene State diver to qualify for the ECAC Open meet in both the one-meter and three-meter this past weekend. She recorded scores of 222.20 and 230.30 on the one and three-meter, respectively. Peruccio, who rejoined the team this semester, also won both events in a dual meets against Plymouth State. The Owls are off to a fast start, turning in an 8-0 record in dual meets.

Kathan averaged 19.5 points and 9.5 in a pair of LEC victories over Western Conn. and UMass-Boston last week.  He had 22 points against the Colonials and pulled down 12 rebounds vs. the Corsairs.
