Blamy Post NCAA Mark in High Jump
MEDFORD, MASS. 1/19/08 - Keene State College senior Crystal
Blamy (Walpole, N.H.) posted a automatic NCAA Division III
Championship qualifying and school record with her winning mark of
5.68 feet in the high jump at the Tufts Invitational Track Meet
held Saturday in Medford, Mass. It was the top mark in Division III
so far this season. Blamy, a two-time All-America in the event,
broke her own Owl record of 5.58 feet set in 2006.
Senior Jennifer Adams (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) also recorded a
provisional NCAA qualifying time with her first place finish in the
mile (5:04.54). She also won the 800-meter race in a time of
2:26.65.
Senior Laura Kintz (Jaffrey, N.H.) was third in the 55-dash
(7.61).
Competing in the event for the first time, freshman Vanessa Ward
(Auburn, Mass.) put also put her name in the KSC record book with a
second place finish in the pentathlon (2,758 points). Ward
qualified for the ECAC and New England Division III championship
with her performance.
The KSC women finished fourth at the meet with 65 points.
UMass-Lowell claimed team honors with 236 points.
Senior Kevin Kelleher (Rocky Hill Conn.) had a big day for the KSC
men. He won the 800 (1:59.37) and took third in the 3K race
(8:40.17). Junior Pat Craven (North Kingstown, R.I.) took
third in the 800 (2:00.56).
Junior Sean Gavaghan (Monroe, Conn.) placed second in the mile
(4:32.15).
Sophomore Frank Radlof (Milford, N.H.), set a school record by
winning the men's pentathlon. Competing in the event for the first
time, Radlof tallied 3,250 points, easily eclipsing the previous
record of 2,890 set by John Nadeau in 1990. Radlof's performance
qualified hem for the N.E. Division III and ECAC Championships.
The Owl men finished fourth in the team standings with 80
points. The host Jumbos won the meet with 203 points.
