Fabian recognized by the American Swimming Coaches Association
KEENE, N.H. 12/22/10 – Keene State’s Jack Fabian has joined a prestigious list of coaches honored by the American Swimming Coaches Association. Currently in his sixth-year directing the Owls’ program, Fabian is the recipient of the ASCA Coach of Excellence award for the 2010 season.
“I’m honored to be recognized by the ASCA. Every year I read the about the great coaches in the country recognized with this award and dream of making the list. It is a dream come true,” said Fabian. “I am grateful that Keene State values the success of its student-athletes at the national level. Without this support, the teams’ success the past five years wouldn’t have been possible. I hope to be able to continue to help train athletes to be successful at the national level.”
The ASCA award recognizes Fabian’s work with the Owls and the Greenwood Memorial Swim Club. The Association honors coaches that guide swimmers to top-eight finishes at the NCAA and USA National Championships. Last year, Keene State’s Kristine Trutor finished fourth at NCAAs in the 100 backstroke and the Owls’ 200 medley relay was eighth. Also this year, Fabian’s daughter Eva, who competes for the Greenwood Club, placed third at USA Open Water Nationals and fifth in the 1,650 at the recent USA Nationals that took place at Ohio State.
