Douglas Earns LEC Golden Ball Award
KEENE, N.H. 1/27/12 - Keene State College sophomore forward Scott Douglas (East Greenwich, R.I.) has earned the Little East Conference Golden Ball Award for scoring the most goals in the league this season.
Douglas, who had a slow start to his season due to injury, tallied 14 goals this season to lead the LEC. The East Greenwich, R.I. product also finished the season with 28 points.
After scoring only one goal in the month of September, Douglas started to pour in the goals, including three hat-tricks. The sophomore striker had back-to-back hat tricks against Framingham State (10/18) and conference rival Umass Dartmouth (10/22). Douglas' most meaningful three-goal game came in the Little East Conference semifinals against Rhode Island College, when his overtime game-winner sent the Owls into the Little East Conference championship game for the second year in a row.
Douglas also led the squad with five game-winners on the season.
For his efforts this season, the LEC coaches voted him to first-team All-LEC.
