Owl Men's Soccer Looking Forward to Homecoming Fireworks on Saturday Night

KEENE, N.H., 9/30/10 – A first-ever Saturday night men’s soccer game and fireworks display will be one of the highlights of  Keene State’s Homecoming celebration this weekend.

The Owls will face Rhode Island College in a key Little East Conference contest on Saturday (6 p.m.). Following the game, KSC alumni, family, and friends are invited to stick around the Complex for fireworks.

There should be plenty of fireworks on the field as Keene State (7-3, 2-0 LEC) and Rhode Island College (7-2, 2-0) enter the game with undefeated conference records.  The Owls saw their four-game winning streak abruptly come to an end on Wednesday with a 5-0 loss to Babson College.  Meanwhile, the Anchormen extended their winning streak to six games with a 3-1 win over Framingham State.

“We need to find a way to bounce back after Wednesday’s game,” said KSC Coach Ron Butcher. “This is a pivotal LEC game for us.  We can’t afford to fall back in the conference standings.”

Keene State has history on its side.  In LEC play, the Owls have dominated the series with a 14-1-1 record against the Anchormen.  KSC defeated RIC 3-1 to claim the 2004 LEC championship.  The Anchormen’s lone win against the Owls was a 1-0 victory in 2008.
