Nyman, MacKnight Earn LEC Honors

N. Dartmouth, Mass. 9/27/10 – Senior runner Eric MacKnight (Newtown, Conn.) and sophomore defender Blake Nyman (Plymouth, Mass.) were given Little East Conference Runner and Defensive player of the week as announced by the league office on Monday.

Runner of the Week
Eric MacKnight (Newtown, Conn.), Senior, Keene State College
MacKnight finished fifth at the Williams College Purple Valley Classic on Saturday, covering the course in a time of 26 minutes, 30 seconds. Thanks in large part to MacKnight’s efforts, the Owls are now ranked 18th nationally and third in New England.  The senior wins Little East top runner honors for the second consecutive week.

Defensive Player of the Week
Blake Nyman (Plymouth, Mass.), Sophomore, Back, Keene State College
Nyman played a major defensive role in a 2-0 week for Keene State College. The Owls’ defense limited their opponents to a combined nine shots on net in victories over Worcester State and No. 12 Eastern Connecticut.  The Warriors’ lone goal of the match came on a penalty kick. The Keene State defensive third has limited its opponents to one marker in five of its nine matches on the campaign.
