Six Owls earn LEC honors
KEENE, N.H. - The following six Keene State student athletes were recognized by the Little East Conference on Monday.
WOMEN'S SOCCER
Defensive
Player of the Week
Jaclyn Grant (Newington, Conn.), Senior, Back, Keene State
College
Grant and the Owls held opponents scoreless all week, going 2-0
with shutout victories over Worcester State and Rhode Island
College. The Keene State defense allowed the Lancers only seven
shots, and just two from the Anchorwomen. Grant and her
defensive mates have now put together six shutouts this season.
Co-Goalkeepers of
the Week
Megan Dempsey (East Weymouth, Mass.), Sophomore, Keene State
College
Dempsey managed to keep her opponents scoreless all week, leading
the Owls to a 2-0 week. The East Weymouth, Mass. native recorded
five saves in a 1-0 victory Tuesday over Worcester State. On
Saturday, Dempsey helped keep conference rival Rhode Island College
off the board in a 5-0 win.
MEN'S SOCCER
Rookie of the
Week
Joe Senecal (Manchaug, Mass.), Freshman, Forward, Keene
State College
Senecal paced Keene State in scoring with six points in a 1-1 week
for the Owls. He netted a pair of goals, including the game-winner,
to help Keene State remain unbeaten in Little East action on Oct.
3. Earlier in the week, Senecal provided the lone marker in a 3-1
loss to Babson College.
WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL
Defensive
Player of the Week
Abby Rosen (Hebron, Conn.), Senior, Defensive Specialist,
Keene State College
Rosen averaged 20.8 digs in the Owls five matches last week. She
had a career-high 28 digs in a 3-2 loss to Wellesley College and 23
digs in a 3-2 loss to Emerson College.
MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Rookie of the Week
Andrew Sears (Derry, N.H.), Freshman, Keene State
College
Sears had the best finish by a Owl freshman at the KSC Invitational
on Saturday, placing 43rd overall with a time of 27 minutes and 23
seconds.
WOMEN'S CROSS
COUNTRY
Runner of the Week
Rita Marcotte (Heath, Mass.), Senior, Keene State
College
With Keene State missing its top two runners, Marcotte stepped up
to lead the Owls to a strong second place finish at the KSC
Invitational on Saturday. The senior finished eighth with a time of
19 minutes and 22 seconds on the 5K course.
