'KEENE, N.H. 10/27/03 - Three Keene State College athletes were recipients of Little East Conference weekly honors. In men's soccer, Jason Lombardo was selected offensive player of the week for the second week in a row, Tara Wagner was named women's soccer rookie of the week for the third time this year, and Nichole Dallas was selected field hockey defensive player of the week.
Lombardo, a junior from Woburn, Mass., tallied nine points on four goals and an assist to lead KSC to a 3-0 week, including a pair of weekend road wins at Rhode Island College and University of Southern Maine. He scored two goals against Western New England College, two goals against Rhode Island College, including the game-winner, and added an assist at Southern Maine. Lombardo has a team-leading 14 goals.
Wagner, a freshman midfielder from Avon, Conn., scored two goals, including the game-winner, as the Owls posted a 4-0-shutout victory over Rhode Island College and clinched the regular season title. Wagner has a team-leading eight assists with three goals and 14 points.
Dallas, a senior back from Marlow, N.H., led a defensive backfield that shutout conference foe Westfield State (1-0) and UMass-Dartmouth (8-0) this week Dallas, who additionally set up a goal in the latter triumph, helped KSC clinch the regular-season title with the two wins.
The Keene State men's soccer team (12-5-1) travel to Ramapo (N.J.) College on Wednesday (2:30 p.m.); the women's soccer team (12-4-2) is at Bridgewater State College on Wednesday (2:30 p.m.); and the field hockey team (13-5) hosts Endicott College on Wednesday (6:30 p.m.).
