Meehan, Sawyer Earn Offensive Player of the Week Honors from LEC
NORTH DARTMOUTH, Massachusetts 3/15/10 – Keene State College lacrosse players Lauren Sawyer (Westbrook, Maine) and Griffin Meehan (Simsbury, Conn.) were named Offensive Player’s of the Week by the Little East Conference on Monday.
Men’s Lacrosse
Offensive Player of the Week:
Griffin Meehan (Simsbury, Conn.), Sophomore, Attack, Keene
State College
In Keene State’s first three games of the season, Meehan
registered 14 goals and five assists for 19 total points to lead
the Owls to a 2-1 mark. The sophomore attacker from Simsbury, Conn.
recorded at least six points in each game, including a trio of hat
tricks. In the season opener at Bates, Meehan netted six points
(4-2) and collected five ground balls in the overtime loss. He
paced the Keene State offensive with a pair of six-goal efforts
against New England College and Wheaton (Mass.). Meehan registered
a season-best eight points against the Lyons.
Women’s Lacrosse
Offensive Player of the Week:
Lauren Sawyer (Westbrook, Maine), Junior, Attack,
Keene State College
Sawyer paced the Keene State attack with 12 points,
including nine assists, as the Owls opened the 2010 schedule with a
2-0 mark. The native of Westbrook, Maine handed out a season-high
five helpers at Saint Michael’s on March 6, while dishing out
four assists and adding two markers at Curry College five days
later.
