Men's Lacrosse Picked 2nd in LEC Preseason Poll

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. - Keene State College is the clear-cut No. 2 as the Owls earned each of the eight second-place votes for 56 points in the 2010 Little East Conference preseason poll. For the second-straight season and seventh overall, Eastern Connecticut State University has been predicted to capture the Little East men's lacrosse regular season championship after a vote by the conference's eight coaches. The Warriors are the unanimous choice in the 2010 preseason coaches' poll, earning all eight first-place votes and 64 total points.

Mark Theriault guided Keene State to the program's sixth Little East championship game last season after defeating Southern Maine in the semifinals. The Owls won five of their last six games to post a 9-4 overall record, including a 6-1 mark inside the conference. Keene State returns 22 letter-winners from a year ago, including four starters. Sophomore attacker Griffin Meehan (Simsbury, Conn.) will lead the Owls' offensive attack after scoring 59 points (37-22) during his rookie campaign. The 2009 Little East Rookie of the Year netted at least one marker in his first 13 collegiate games, including a season-high five twice.

Keene State was edged at Bates College, 11-10, in its season-opener on March 3 and will have their season opener Saturday at 1 p.m. against New England College.
