Keene State Ranked 23rd in LaxNews Poll

KEENE, N.H. 1/21/08 - Keene State College is ranked 23rd in the recently released Lax News preseason men's poll. 


The Owls are coming off an outstanding season that saw them not only set a program record for wins (16-1), but also capture the Little East championship and advance to the second round of the NCAA tournament. 


The publication also named three Keene State players to its preseason All-America team -attackman Tony Santa Fe (Derry, N.H) (47 goals and 30 assists in '07) and midfielder Mike Fontaine (Wolfboro, N.H.) (20 goals and nine assists) and senior goalie Matt Johnson (Derry, N.H.)  Johnson led Division III with a .713 save percentage last season. The defense in front of Johnson will be led by All Conference long stick midfielder Easton Kezer (Derry, N.H.) and close defensemen Kevin McCarthy (Derry, N.H.) .Other top contributors are attackman Peter Lauranzano (Beverly, Mass.) (23 goals, 23 assists) Ryan Hazelton (Chester, N.H.) (24 goals and 10assists), and Casey Brodersen (Derry, N.H.) (15 goal and five assists). 


The Owls have made tremendous strides under Coach Mark Theriault.  When he took over the program in 1999, KSC was ranked #119 out of 126 teams.
