Eric Fazio, Junior, Men's Basketball
Front and center on Keene State’s frontline last week, Eric Fazio earns player of the week honors for the first time after a pair of strong performances in a pair of Little East Conference wins by the Owls last week. Although he had just six points, three rebounds, and one block, Fazio played a key role, helping to lead KSC to a 64-56 win over No. 18 ranked Eastern Conn. on Tuesday.
On Saturday, the junior forward from Hopewell Junction, N.Y., scored 20 points, hitting 10 of his 12 shots from the line, and added nine rebounds to lead Keene State to a 86-70 victory over UMass-Boston, giving the Owls sole possession of first place in the Little East Conference. “Coach Colbert has us do drills in practice to get up the court faster and we knew we could out run them,” said Fazio. “That was one of our goals for this game,” said Fazio.
“Our big guys run the floor as well as any in the league,” said KSC Coach Rob Colbert. “We were able to get some easy looks and thing loosened up a little bit.”
KSC put the game away in the final minutes of play. While going down Fazio banked a shot off the glass to give the Owls a 78-62 lead.
