Three Owls Named to All-LEC Basketball Teams

KEENE, N.H., 03/4/08 - Keene State College placed three players on the All-Little East Conference basketball teams announced on Tuesday.

Junior forward Tyler Kathan (Ludlow, Vt.) was the lone Owl representative on the men's team and sophomore Nicole Simmler (Oxford, Mass.) and Michele Boudreau (Readsboro, Vt.) were selected to the women's squad.

Kathan, last year LEC player of the year, earned All-LEC first-team honors for the second straight season. The junior forward led the Owls and LEC in scoring (18.1 ppg.) and was third in the conference in rebounding (8.3 rpg.). Kathan, recorded 10 double-double games this year, including a season 31 point, 15 rebound performance against SUNY-New Paltz when he scored 1,000th career point.

Simmler and Boudreau are both making their first appearance on the All-LEC women's team. Simmler, a first-team selection topped the Owls in scoring (12.0 ppg.) and rebounding (7.0 rpg.) and was among the top-five in both categories on LEC lists. She scored a career high 22 point against Curry and pulled down a career best 14 rebounds against R.I. College in a LEC quarterfinal tournament game.

Picked to the All-LEC second-team, Boudreau, the Owls' point guard, led the team in assists (2.4 apg.) and was third in scoring (8.9 ppg.). She scored a season high 20 points against Westfield State and dished out a career best eight assists against RIC in LEC tournament action.

The Keene State men finished its season third in the LEC with a 16-11 (8-6 LEC) record. The Owl women finished fourth in the LEC with a 16-11 (7-7 LEC) mark.
