Little East Honors Five Owls
NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. 9/13/10 – The Little East Conference office has honored five Owls with weekly awards. Seniors Jamie Levine and Katie Bradford, Junior Leigh Smith and Freshmen Jessica Berthiaume and Katlyn Simula were all given player of the week honors.
Volleyball
Defensive Player of the Week
Jamie Levine (Medfield, Mass.), Senior, Libero/Outside Hitter, Keene State College
Levine averaged 17.4 digs per game over five matches for the Owls last week. The senior tallied 26 digs in a 3-2 loss to Bridgewater State and 23 digs in a 3-2 loss to Connecticut College in the Johnson & Wales University Invitational. The Owls finished up the tournament with a 3-1 win over Wheaton College, which helped Levine earn a spot on the All-Tournament team.

Offensive Player of the Week
Katie Bradford (Lebanon, N.H.), Senior, Forward, Keene State College
Bradford paced the Keene State attack this past week by scoring eight points, on two goals and four assists, in a pair of Owls victories. The Lebanon, N.H. product penned a marker and a pair of helpers in her ledger against Westfield State and Framingham State. She recorded the decisive goal in the victory over the Rams.
Rookie of the Week
Jessica Berthiaume (Worcester, Mass.), Freshman, Midfielder, Keene State College
Berthiaume registered eight points, on four goals, to help Keene State post a 2-0 record this past week. The Worcester, Mass. product recorded a hat trick against Framingham State, while adding a marker earlier in the week against Westfield State. Berthiaume currently leads the Owls with five goals, while ranking second with 10 points.
Field Hockey
Defensive Player of the Week
Leigh Smith (Sanborton, N.H.), Junior, Back, Keene State College
Smith was a member of the Keene State defense that didn't allow a goal in two shutout wins last week, holding Springfield College and Eastern Connecticut scoreless in 140 minutes of action. The Owls limited the Warriors to just two shots on the cage. The native of Sanborton, N.H. also recorded the assist on the game-winning goal against Eastern Connecticut on Saturday.
Rookie of the Week
Katlyn Simula (Bridgewater, N.H.), Freshman, Back, Keene State College
Simula contributed on each side of the field this past weekend, helping Keene State post a 2-0 record, including a 1-0 mark within the conference circuit. The Owls' registered a pair of shutouts in victories over Springfield College and Eastern Connecticut. The Bridgewater, N.H. native scored the game-winning goal against the Warriors on Sept. 11.
