LEC Honors Five Owls
KEENE, N.H. 9/7/10 – Five Keene State athletes were honored by the Little East Conference on Monday.
Men’s Soccer
Offensive Player of the Week
Joe Senecal (Manchaug, Mass.), Sophomore, Forward, Keene State College
Senecal led Keene State to a 3-0 record this past week, scoring three goals and handing out one assist for seven points. The native of Manchaug, Mass. registered at least one point in each match, including a season-high four against Kean University. Senecal recorded his first marker of the season against New England College on Sept. 1. Three days later, he netted a pair of goals, including the decisive strike in the third minute of overtime, to power the Owls past the Cougars. The following afternoon, the offensive most valuable player of the XARA Tournament handed out a helper on the game-winning goal in the victory over Fitchburg State.
Defensive Player of the Week
Danny Silverman (Maynard, Mass.), Sophomore, Midfielder, Keene State College
Silverman contributed on each side of the pitch this past week, helping Keene State post a 3-0 mark. The Maynard, Mass. product and his defensive teammates allowed just 1.3 goals per game. Silverman contributed to the offensive rush against Fitchburg State, scoring his first marker of the campaign in the 41st minute to stake the Owls to a lead they wouldn’t relinquish. He was named the defensive most valuable player of the XARA Tournament.

Defensive Player of the Week
Kellie Warning (Putnam Valley, N.Y.), Sophomore, Midfielder, Keene State College
Warning limited Keene State’s opponents to just one goal per game in a pair of Owls’ victories this past week. On Sept. 1, the Putnam Valley, N.Y. native and her defensive mates allowed just 10 shots in a season-opening 3-1 victory over Western New England. Three days later, Keene State defeated Husson University, 3-1, allowing the Eagles 11 shots.
Goalkeeper of the Week
Meghan Ledoux (Standish, Maine), Senior, Keene State College
Ledoux posted a 1.00 goals against average and a .866 save percentage to backstop Keene State to a pair of victories over Western New England and Husson University. The native of Standish, Maine collected six saves against the Golden Bears, while adding an additional stop against the Eagles.
Rookie of the Week
Katlyn Simula (Bridgewater, N.H.), Freshman, Back, Keene State College
Simula helped Keene State post a team 1.00 goals against average in a pair of victories this past week over Western New England and Husson University. The freshman from Bridgewater, N.H. scored the game-winning goal on a penalty stroke against the Eagles on Sept. 4.
