Benson, Blackmer and Sherry Earn 3rd Team All-Conference Honors in Field Hockey

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. 12/8/09 - The Little East Conference honored three more Owls on Tuesday with the announcement of the third-team all-conference selections for field hockey. Junior Chelsea Blackmer (Boylston, Mass.) and sophomores Jacki Benson (Hampstead, N.H.) and Aislynn Sherry (Rehoboth, Mass.) were named to the squad as voted on by the conferences coaches.

"It's great that the conference gives us a third team because we have so many more teams than other sports," said KSC Head Coach Amy Watson. "These three are very deserving of the recognition."

Blackmer had 16 points on the season with four goals and eight assists. The Boylston native came up big in the regular season finale against UMass-Dartmouth with a goal and an assist which clinched home field advantage for the Owls in the LEC tournament. "Chelsea has been one of our most consistent players this year and I am glad she got some recognition for that," said Watson.

Benson was second on the team in scoring behind senior Carly Benning (Brewster, Mass.) with 10 goals on the season, including three game-winners. Her most important game-winner came back on September 15th, when the Owls defeated perennial powerhouse Williams 1-0. "Jacki is a sneaky player," said Watson. "She comes off the bench nicely and played well for us this past year."

Sherry, in her breakout sophomore year, led the team in assists with 12 in 2009 and had a career-night on November 3rd when she netted a hat-trick in the LEC Quarterfinals against Salem State. "Aislynn is a very coachable player," said Watson. "She created a lot of scoring opportunities for us this year and was rewarded with a lot of assists."
