Cheerleading: Owls compete at NCA Championships In Florida

A young Keene State College cheerleading team, comprised of nine freshmen and three sophomores, traveled to the National Cheerleading Association (NCA) Collegiate championship in Daytona, Fla, where they competed in the all-girl Division III category against 20 different schools from New Hampshire to California.

The Owl squad placed second in the Challenge Cup, performing a strong routine. The team worked very hard to fundraise for its trip, running clinics and helping youth cheerleading squads in the surrounding communities.

Despite injuries, the team was very close and is looking forward to next season. Team members feel they can improve their performance in Daytona.

The team got more involved in basketball games this past season with time-out dances and cheers and showed their support by traveling to away games, with pom-poms and signs, at Rhode Island College and Western Connecticut State.

The cheerleaders were once again a big hit at Midnight Madness and the program is getting bigger and better every year.
